Maurizio Saiu
Maurizio Saiu is considered as one of the most renowned representative of the Italian danse d’auteur.
After a first phase spent in New York (from 1985 to 1991, together with, among others, Richard Haisma and Merce Cunningham), he addresses his interest to the interaction between the dance and the song languages. Since 1991, his most significant works are Anghelus, La leggenda del Sardus Pater, Squarci, Generazione all’Aurora, Solo (neanche l’ombra), Morte Araba, Pan-seminario per un errore, Calimero, Down Down, Pastorale.
From 2007 to 2012 he worked as artistic director for the performance art festival Il corpo sottratto into which manifold activities such as shows, workshops and seminars converged.
His works have been performed in the most important Italian and European cities.
